Literature Review of "Story" assessment
Tempus
fugit!
Some of you have asked what I am
looking for in assessing your papers. What follows is an overview of that
process. Remember to look back at the original directions for this assignment;
you should have read the links thoroughly to get a clear view of what this paper
entails. Papers are due the first day of class.

Specific
qualities/characteristics of this
paper:
(taken from web sources
linked on original assignment
page)
Introduction
Defined
or identified the general topic, issue, or area of concern, thus providing an
appropriate context for reviewing the
literature
Strong thesis statement (connect
with "lens" or "keyhole" of
Story).
Body
"Organize
the material by topic, by perspective, or in some other coherent way. Don't
just dump the information in randomly in a 'this one says this, that one says
that' fashion. By grouping and organizing your information, identifying
different issues and positions and establishing connections and differences
between your sources, you provide the reader with an overview of the issue or
topic you are writing about.
"
Conclusion
"Summarize
major contributions of significant studies and articles to the body of
knowledge under review, maintaining the focus established in the
introduction."
"Conclude by providing some
insight into the relationship between the central topic of the literature review
and a larger area of study such as a discipline, a scientific endeavor, or a
profession."
Late
Papers
None for credit. Because we have
fewer grades this trimester, a missed paper will not allow you to get a passing
grade in the class.
