Poem explication-exegetical commentary
That is, you will spend most of your time close
to the text making specific note of the language, grammar, syntax of your poem
and then make general statements that reflect those findings.
For this paper, you will explicate the poem that
you have chosen. That is, you will spend most of your time close to the text
making specific note of the language, grammar, syntax of your poem and then make
general statements that reflect those findings.
This paper is unlike most of your other
papers in that we want to see you deal with a work inductively rather than
deductively. The structure, then, of your paper probably won't follow the
typical Intro, T.S, Point 1, Point 2 etc flow; rather, it will reflect more
note-like comments.
We will follow the same
format as in the
Hamlet
paper where you post the night before, give your talk in class, then submit your
final copy the next class day.
